CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its latest flagship artificial intelligence model designed for sophisticated professional applications. Announced on Sept. 30, Argon is the top model in the Gemini 4 series, capable of supporting complex software development, financial analysis, legal research, and cybersecurity tasks. It also manages extensive reasoning chains and execution sequences. Access remains limited at present, with select cybersecurity professionals testing Argon through the Fairwind Program.

The model increases the maximum token output to 1 million, a significant jump from the previous 64,000-token cap, enabling it to handle longer tasks without dividing work across multiple sessions. Initial API pricing begins at $2 per million input tokens, while output tokens cost $10 per million during the same period. Inputs stored in cache qualify for a 95% discount. Future pricing will rise to $4 for input tokens and $20 for output tokens.
Currently, thousands of employees use Argon for coding, research, and writing tasks. Internal teams have tested the model on data center optimization and large-scale software migration projects, including using Argon agents to facilitate C and C++ migrations to Rust and conducting memory profiling across data centers. These efforts resulted in freeing over 300 tebibytes of memory, with ongoing analysis uncovering further efficiencies.
Extended capability for complex technical tasks
Argon achieved a 77.9% score on DeepSWE v1.1, a benchmark assessing long-form software engineering performance, according to Google. The company also shared results demonstrating its effectiveness in finance, legal work, automation, and multimodal activities. Developed by Google DeepMind as part of the Gemini model family, Argon combines coding assistance with long-context reasoning and multimodal features. Its expanded output capacity enables handling workflows that involve multiple interconnected steps before completion.
Cybersecurity remains central to its initial deployment, with Argon capable of detecting, verifying, and patching software vulnerabilities within authorized defensive environments. Wiz is utilizing the model via its Scan for Good initiative, aimed at identifying security flaws in public infrastructure. Google reported a 68% score on CWE-bench v1, a benchmark focused on vulnerability mitigation. Additionally, selected defenders can operate Argon without standard cyber guardrails for approved security defense tasks.
Limited public rollout underway in phases
No definitive date has been set for widespread public access to Gemini 4 Argon by Google. The company is conducting a phased release while collecting feedback from early users and participating in a voluntary U.S. government process that grants pre-release access to advanced AI models. Eventually, broader availability will include developers, enterprise clients, and consumers. Priority access is expected for paid API users and Google AI Ultra subscribers, although an official launch date remains unannounced.
Google also clarified that it does not intend to release Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was previously anticipated before the Gemini 4 launch. Argon now stands as the flagship model for demanding reasoning and professional tasks. Other Gemini models continue to serve different performance and cost requirements. For now, Gemini 4 Argon remains focused on trusted testers, cybersecurity collaborators, and limited early-access programs, with wider distribution still pending.
